The Erie Canal is a historically significant navigable waterway in New York State, extending approximately 338 miles from Albany on the Hudson River to Buffalo and Lake Erie. Today, it serves primarily for recreational boating and passes through numerous towns rich in historical heritage along the northern part of the state.

This application provides a comprehensive overview of the canal's key features through an interactive map, displaying the main navigation route, lock locations, guard gates, lift bridges, and mooring sites. It also highlights select biking trails in proximity to the canal, offering users additional recreational options.

Users can pinpoint their current location on the map and share it with family, friends, or other app users, facilitating coordination and safety during exploration.

Integration with the native Maps application enables users to access detailed driving directions to docks and marinas along the canal, enhancing trip planning.

For iPhone users, the app offers direct calling capabilities to lock stations and marinas along the route for quick communication.
